Special Guest : Debbie Rice


Debbie, a resident of Winston-Salem, NC USA, is a clinician and conductor in handbells, chimes, choral music and voice throughout USA and other parts of the world.  Internationally Debbie has conducted in Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan. Plans are underway for her to conduct the first handbell festival in Israel during 2013.

Her music degrees are in music education, opera and musical theatre. She has sung with US regional opera companies, a professional choir and studied early music as well as conducting.

Currently Debbie is the honorary Executive Director for the International Handbell Committee consisting of the guilds/societies of Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Australasia, United Kingdom, Canada and USA).  Debbie is a former National President of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (soon to be known as the Handbell Musicians of America).

Debbie is currently a guest clinician and conductor at Concordia University College of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta Canada for the 2011-2012 academic year.  Here she directs an auditioned community handbell ensemble, student ensemble and assists with other choral ensembles and course work as requested.  Debbie is also involved with an Honours Handbell Orchestra through Edmonton Public Schools.

Debbie is on sabbatical leave from serving as Director of the Handbell Ministry for Becks Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC. This ministry includes choir groups for all ages utilizing the largest set of handbells and handchimes commercially available. Debbie is also on leave as a professional singer with Centenary United Methodist Church.
